BMW Industries plans to establish a new downstream steel manufacturing plant in Bokaro, Jharkhand, with a total investment of Rs 803.47 crore.
The project, aimed at leveraging the company’s strengths in steel processing and meeting rising domestic demand, will be funded through a combination of internal accruals and debt. The proposed greenfield complex will have an annual capacity of 3,00,000 tonne of cold rolled full hard coils/sheets, 5,40,000 tonne of galvanised coils/sheets, and 2,00,000 tonne of colour-coated coils/sheets.
Spread across industrial-use land already owned by the company, the facility will commence operations in phases over the next two years, with the first plant expected to begin commercial production in FY26. Strategically located around 300 km from Haldia and Kolkata ports, the project site offers strong connectivity to international markets while being close to raw material sources, ensuring supply chain efficiency.
The company has secured the consent to establish from the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board. According to the Board of Directors, the expansion will strengthen BMW Industries’ presence in downstream steel processing, boost market reach, and create long-term value for stakeholders.
