The Bandra Government Colony (BGC) spread over 95.80 acre in Bandra (East),
Mumbai, is expected to be revamped. The Maharashtra Government is expected to
approve the project shortly.
Around 10 developers have submitted bids for the project. Three developers
are to be selected to develop the colony in three blocks with 5,600 tenements --
one developer per block. The developers are expected to spend Rs 1,200 crore on
construction, and an equal amount is likely to be submitted to the government
for lease rights for 99 years.
The H Block is to have the hospital and administrative building; I Block will
have tenements, community hall and shopping arcade, while J Block is expected to
have housing and commercial building space. The developers will get 24,000 sq
mtrs, 9,700 sq mtrs and 47,500 sq mtrs of area respectively.
