The West Bengal Government is expected to set up a biotechnology incubation
facility in Sector V of Salt Lake to enable small and medium pharmaceutical
companies to use common infrastructure on rental basis.
The project is expected to cost Rs 200 crore. Out of 3.5 lakh sq ft of
available space in the new building, about 1.5 lakh sq ft is to be dedicated to
the biotechnology sector.
The state government has already floated tender for selecting the developer
for the project. Work on the building was likely to be completed in two years.
