Bridgestone Corporation through its subsidiary Bridgestone India will set up
a new tyre plant near Pune, Maharashtra.
The total investment in the plant will be 50 billion yen ($540.4 million)
{approx Rs 2,431.8 crore}. This new plant is likely to begin passenger car
radial tire (PSR) production and truck and bus radial tire (TBR) production in
response to increasing demand for these tires in India.
PSR production is scheduled to begin in January 2013, and TBR production is
scheduled to begin in August 2013. The production capacity is slated to reach
approximately 10,000 units per day for PSR and 3,000 units per day for TBR by
end-2020.
