Citizens Financial Group, a leading United States-based financial institution, has launched its global capability centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, in collaboration with information technology services firm Cognizant.
The centre, positioned as a strategic step in Citizens' digital transformation journey, is expected to scale up to 1,000 information technology and data & analytics professionals by March 2026. The Hyderabad GCC is envisioned as a next-generation innovation hub aimed at enhancing Citizens' enterprise platforms, customer experience initiatives, and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
At the launch event in Hyderabad, Telangana’s Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, D Sridhar Babu highlighted the state’s growing influence as a global technology destination. Hyderabad, already a powerhouse for global capability centres, now hosts over 350 such entities across sectors including banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), healthcare, and technology.
The region's appeal is underscored by its strong infrastructure and growth indicators - the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport recorded the highest passenger growth among Indian metros, commercial real estate absorption rose by 56 percent, and retail leasing touched 1.8 million sq. ft. last year. The city is on track to add 200 million sq. ft. of Grade-A office space by 2030, signalling long-term commitment to becoming a global innovation nucleus.
