Anakapalle District Collector Vijaya Krishnan has granted advance possession of 11.85 acres of government land in Settipalem village, Makavarapalem mandal, under Narsipatnam division, to the Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) for setting up a coffee processing unit.
The initiative aims to create jobs, boost tribal livelihoods, and strengthen agro-based infrastructure. The allotted land, spread across survey numbers 108-2, 108-3, and 109-2, was earlier part of an open forest block (Sy.No.2) before being subdivided under tribal land distribution schemes for low-income beneficiaries. The three parcels, measuring 4.261 acres, 3.647 acres, and 3.945 acres respectively, are classified as Banjaru (wasteland), non-forest, and cultivable land, deemed suitable for agro-industrial development.
The Tribal Welfare department formally requested the land allocation, citing the need to support tribal coffee growers with value addition and better market access. The Revenue Divisional Officer of Narsipatnam and Tahsildar of Makavarapalem have been directed to hand over possession to GCC’s Vice-Chairman and Managing Director until alienation procedures are completed. Officials must also file formal alienation proposals promptly.
