Dalmia Cement (Bharat) has received approval from Bihar’s Industries Department to expand its Rohtas cement plant's production by 50 percent.
Under the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Rules, 2016, the plant's capacity will increase from one million tonne per day (MTPD) to 1.5 MTPD. This expansion project, valued at Rs 107.32 crore, aims to enhance industrial investment in the region and create employment. "This expansion will provide direct employment to 594 skilled and unskilled workers," said Industries Secretary Kundan Kumar.
Rohtas District Magistrate Udita Singh also welcomed the move, highlighting its importance for industrial development and employment generation in the hilly district. The Rohtas facility, operational since 2018, is Bihar's first integrated cement plant and the only one on the Kaimur plateau. It was established near limestone reserves in Kalyanpur, 42 km south of Sasaram, and continues to contribute to local economic growth.
