Manu Energy Systems in a joint venture (JV) with the government of Nagaland is planning to set up 186 MW hydel power unit in Kohima district.
The hydel power unit will be set up on River Dikhu and River Yangnyu, a major tributary of river Brahmaputra at Longleng on build, own, operate, transfer (BOOT) basis.
The Dikhu Hydel Power Project will span over 2,440 ha of land and entail an investment of Rs 1,994.74 crore. The project will utilise a gross head of about 106 mtr to be created by constructing a rock fill dam of 112 mtr height to meet the peaking demand of the state.
Dikhu HEP is proposed to be constructed at the toe of the dam consisting of three units of 62 MW each.
The project envisages development of storage reservoir of 757 MCM capacity, a power house accommodating three units of 62 MW each hydro units and various appurtenant works of the power project like head race tunnel, diversion tunnel, penstocks, etc. The project was accorded terms of reference (ToR) in December 2018.
As per the information gathered by Projects Today, Manu Energy Systems was awaiting the government to provide land for the project. The work is expected to begin by March 2020. The completion date of the project will be 52 months from the zero date.
