The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has accorded environmental clearance (EC) to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation’s (HPCL) grass root Rajasthan Refinery-cum-Petrochemical complex.
The refinery-cum-petrochemical complex with a capacity of nine million tpa is located at Tehsil Pachpadra in Barmer district of Rajasthan.
The proposed processing unit includes a crude distillation unit with a capacity of nine million tpa, vacuum distillation unit with 4.8 million tpa capacity, and Naptha hydro treating unit with 1.8 million tpa capacity among others.
The refinery will spread over 4,400.40 acre and the project will entail an investment of Rs 43,129 crore. The recurring cost (operation and maintenance) is expected to be around Rs 58 crore per annum.
The project will create 1,000 direct jobs and 200 contractual jobs during the operation and maintenance phase.
The project was accorded EC on 13 September 2017.
