Essar Oil is expecting the first crude
oil consignment to arrive in the third week of September 2006 so that
pre-commissioning activities of the greenfield 10.5 million tpa Vadinar
petroleum refinery could begin in October 2006.
The refinery being set up with an
investment of $2.2 billion is designed to handle a host of crude mixes and
configured to produce Euro II and Euro III grades of petrol and diesel.
In a related development, Essar`s 32
million tonne oil terminal at Vadinar in Gujarat is expected to go on stream by
end-September 2006. The terminal facility would include single buoy mooring
system with annual capacity of 25 million tonnes and crude oil tankage facility
with interconnecting pipelines with a capacity of 20 million tonnes. It would
also have product tankage facility of 14 million tonnes and marine product
despatch facility with jetty with a capacity of 12 million tonnes.
The Vadinar terminal would also have a
rail car loading facility for products with a capacity of seven million tonnes
and truck loading facility for products with a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes.
