Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, laid the foundation stone for Century Plyboards’ (India) new and largest integrated wood panel manufacturing plant at Gopavaram, YSR Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh.
The new manufacturing plant has been planned to be its largest globally and will transform the business scenario in the region.
To be developed under three phases, the company plans to invest Rs 1,600 crore towards the project. It will create direct and indirect employment for 2,500 people. The biggest beneficiaries of this significant investment will be local farmers.
CenturyPly will purchase locally produced raw material directly from them and increase realisation to farmers by at least 50 percent right from beginning of the operations.
In Phase-I the unit will have a manufacturing capacity of 2,31,000 cu mtr of medium density fibre board; in Phase-II 99,000 cu mtr of particle board, 17,000 cu mtr of block board and in Phase-III 2,31,000 cu mtr of second medium density fibre board (MDF) line
This also marks the beginning of the realisation of the governments' vision of one lakh acre of plantation in the Gopavaram district that will transform it entirely to lush flora and fauna land and together with CenturyPly, will uplift and move this district into a new benchmark of sustainable development.
