GIFT City and GujRERA are now exploring options to safeguard investor interests and ensure project completion of stalled projects, as authorities at GIFT City have terminated the development agreement with WTC Noida Development Company for the construction of the World Trade Center’s Towers B and C, following mounting complaints and legal concerns raised with the Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority (GujRERA).
The original commercial agreement, signed in 2014–15, saw the successful completion of Towers A and D. However, Towers B and C remain unfinished despite deadline extensions granted by GujRERA. Approx. 30 complaints filed by investors over possession delays and non-payment of assured returns. Alternatives under consideration include enabling an association of allottees to take over the project or appointing a substitute development entity.
Under Section 8 of the RERA Act, authorities can authorise the allottee group or a new developer to carry forward the project. These steps aim to resolve the deadlock and revive the stalled commercial towers in GIFT City.
