Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) and Hindustan Shipyard (HSL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to form a shipbuilding consortium aimed at supporting India’s maritime infrastructure development.
The partnership, signed in Kolkata, will focus on constructing maritime platforms and enhancing India’s operational capabilities. The collaboration will draw on the strengths of both shipyards, contributing to the national goal of expanding indigenous shipbuilding capacity. The companies emphasise that the partnership will also play a key role in ensuring technological self-reliance in shipbuilding, aligning with India’s broader defence and infrastructure objectives.
The MoU was signed by senior officials from both organisations, including Cdr Shantanu Bose from GRSE and Capt Ganti Venkateswarlu from HSL. The joint venture aims to further strengthen India’s maritime capabilities, supporting both defence and commercial shipping needs.
