German sanitary fittings manufacturer Hansgrohe plans to expand its India production capacity fourfold, from 50,000 to 2,00,000 pieces annually by 2028, a senior executive told Reuters.
The expansion aligns with India’s rising demand for premium bathroom fittings, with the country projected to contribute 10 per cent of global sales by 2030, double the current share. “There is huge urbanisation – more people moving to cities, higher disposable income, and people want better bathrooms. So that’s clearly a driver for us,” Thomas Stopper, Hansgrohe’s Asia Vice President for sales, stated.
Hansgrohe is also weighing local sourcing of components and aims to expand its distributor network from 300 to 400 by 2026. Simultaneously, India’s luxury housing boom, with sales of homes priced at Rs four crore and above surging 85 percent year-on-year in H1/2025 to over 7,000 units, is boosting demand for premium bathroom fittings.
