Gujarat Ambuja Cements has planned to set up a 60
MW captive power plant at its manufacturing site at Ambujanagar in Gujarat.
The coal-based power plant costing around Rs.190
crore will be financed largely through internal accruals. The plant will be
commissioned in two phases -- 30 MW by February 2006 and the balance 30 MW by
December 2006.
GACL recently added 1.6 million tpa to its
overall capacity, taking it to 15.5 million tpa. Fresh capacity of 1 million tpa
was added to the Ropar unit in Punjab while 0.6 million tpa was added to the
Darlaghat unit in Himachal Pradesh. The company has also announced the setting
up of a Rs.100 crore flyash based cement unit using 3.5 lakh tonnes of flyash
generated by NTPC's Dadri unit in Uttar Pradesh. (See Related News.)
