Gujarat Ambuja Cements has completed expansion of
its cement-grinding unit at Dalarghat in Himachal Pradesh.
The setting up of a new mill at its existing unit
has increased the capacity by six lakh tonnes to 1.6 million tonnes. The
expansion programme entailed an investment of Rs.50 crore.
The new mill has increased the group's capacity
to 15.5 million tpa from the current 14.9 million tpa. The cement mill would
consume fly ash, thereby increasing the production of blended cement by the
company.
Meanwhile, GACL has also announced that it would
set up a Rs.100 crore fly ash-based production unit at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh,
utilising the 3.5 lakh tonnes fly-ash generated by National Thermal Power
Corporation.
It may be recalled that the company has recently
enhanced the capacity of its Ropar unit in Punjab by one million tpa, taking the
capacity to 2.5 million tpa. The company has invested around Rs.200 crore for
this expansion, which also includes setting up of a power plant.
