The HPCL Rajasthan Refinery (HRRL) project, a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) and the Rajasthan government, is expected to be completed next month, according to a senior official.
Located in Pachpadra near Balotra in Barmer district, the Rs 43,129-crore greenfield refinery and petrochemical complex will have a capacity of nine million tonne per annum (MTPA). HPCL holds a 74 percent stake, while the Rajasthan government owns 26 percent. The project will produce petrol, diesel, and various petrochemical products using advanced, energy-efficient technologies. Crude oil supply will include 7.5 MTPA sourced from Mundra terminal in Gujarat. and 1.5 MTPA from the Mangla terminal in Barmer.
Laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, the refinery is expected to boost regional development and fuel production. HRRL has also undertaken community initiatives, including building a school and a hospital in Sambhra village near Pachpadra.
