Hind Rectifiers (HIRECT), a leading manufacturer of power semiconductors, electronic equipment, and railway systems, has commenced commercial production of highly specialised copper conductors at its Sinnar plant in Maharashtra.

The Rs 56 crore backward integration project—funded through a mix of term loans and internal accruals—focuses on producing continuously transposed conductors (CTC), enamelled paper insulated copper conductors (EPICC), and paper insulated copper conductors (PICC), essential for traction transformers. This initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency, ensure consistent raw material supply, and reduce dependence on external vendors, thereby avoiding delivery delays and penalties from Indian Railways.

Chairman and Managing Director Suramya Nevatia stated that the new copper conductor vertical not only supports HIRECT’s transformer production but also holds strong export potential. The project is expected to optimize costs, boost profitability, and strengthen HIRECT’s competitiveness in the global transformer industry.
