IKEA India, the Swedish home furnishings retailer, has laid the foundation stone for its third store in Nagasandra, Bengaluru in Karnataka on 11 October 2018. The 5,00,000 sq ft store is planned to open in 2020 and connected to the Nagasandra Metro Station. The store is expected to attract more than seven million visitors per year.
The store, besides offering a wide range of home furnishing solutions, will also have a 1,000 seater restaurant serving Swedish and Indian delicacies. Around 7,500 products will be on offer with solution to create a better and brighter everyday life at home
The store will employ 800 to 1,000 direct co-workers and another 1,500 indirectly providing services such as assembly, delivery etc. IKEA stores will have solar panels, LED lights, rain water harvesting, water treatment plants and modern waste management systems.
IKEA India will use EV for deliveries and even co-worker transportation in the future. IKEA India aims to be present in 49 cities by 2030.
