S Jaipal Reddy, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, on 15 February
2011, dedicated to the nation IOC's naphtha cracker plant at Panipat Complex in
Haryana.
The Naphtha Cracker is designed to produce 800,000 TPA of ethylene and will
source feedstock from IndianOil's Gujarat Refinery in Western India and Panipat
and Mathura Refineries in the North. The Cracker Unit at Panipat will also
produce 600 KTA of Propylene, which will act as feed for downstream polymer
units like Polypropylene Unit (6,00,000 tpa), Linear Low Density/ High Density
Polyethylene Swing Unit (3,50,000 tpa), High Density Polyethylene unit (3,00,000
tpa) and Mono Ethylene Glycol unit (3,00,000 tpa).
To meet the utilities requirement, a 239 MW captive power plant;
state-of-the-art effluent treatment plant, three cooling towers of 1,44,000
M3/hr capacity, N2O2 Plant, water treatment plant with capacity 5,600 M3/hr and
ultra modern lab facilities for chemical and polymer testing have been set up.
