The Paper Boards and Speciality Papers Division of ITC has chalked out plans to invest Rs 1,100 crore in its expansion project at Bhadrachalam in Andhra Pradesh.

The company is augmenting its manufacturing capacity from 4 to 6 lakh tpa. Work on the expansion project is likely to commence shortly. All the necessary clearances are in place. It is slated to be operational by December 2011. The entire investment for the project is being met through internal accruals.

The company has three manufacturing units. The Bhadrachalam facility, having capacity to produce four lakh tpa which includes 2.5 lakh tpa of packaging and board material and 1.5 lakh tpa. The plant at Kovai near Coimbatore has a production capacity of about one lakh tpa and the Tribeni Tissues unit in West Bengal can produce high quality paper of about 33,000 tpa.
