Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys (IMFA) has started production of Low Density Aggregate (LDA), an eco-friendly product made out of fly ash generated by thermal power plants.
The company has invested Rs 75 crore to set up the unit to produce LDA, which is a substitute for natural aggregates (stone chips) quarrying. The project will gainfully utilise about 1,20,000 tonne per annum of fly ash. IMFA also has two units of fly ash brick plants with a collective capacity of 1,00,000 fly ash bricks per day.
Given its fully integrated business model, IMFA operates 258 MW captive power generation capacity and its own chrome ore mines.
