The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed loan agreements totalling over USD 800 million to support development projects in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat.
The Maharashtra Power Distribution Enhancement Programme, with a USD 500 million loan, aims to modernise rural power infrastructure and promote solar energy for agriculture. By 2028, it plans to provide daytime solar electricity to 9,00,000 agricultural consumers. The Indore Metro Rail Project, with a loan of approx. USD 190.6 million, will improve urban mobility in Madhya Pradesh. In Gujarat, a USD 109.97 million loan will fund skills development programs to boost job-readiness in sectors like logistics, automotive, IT, and renewable energy.
Additionally, a USD one million Technical Assistance grant was signed to support the SWIFT Project in Assam, focusing on enhancing wetland ecosystems and fisheries.
