India's energy sector has undergone significant growth over the last decade, with retail outlets nearly doubling from 51,870 in 2014 to over one lakh by 2025, according to Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
The Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas highlighted these achievements during a meeting of the Consultative Committee of MPs on Diversification and Energy Transition. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the sector has strengthened, with improvements in infrastructure, a wider range of energy sources, and a focus on cleaner energy solutions. Additionally, India’s LPG distribution network has grown by 127 percent, and natural gas pipelines now cover the entire mainland.
"India today stands proud as the 4th largest refiner globally, with natural gas pipeline length increasing to 25,429 kms and LNG capacity more than doubling to 52.7 MMTPA," the Minister said.
