JSW Energy (Utkal), a subsidiary of JSW Energy, has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with multiple electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) in Karnataka.
Under the deal, Utkal will provide 400 MW of power to Karnataka over 25 years, starting from 01 April, 2026, at a tariff of Rs 5.78 per kWh. This long-term agreement aims to reduce JSW Energy’s open power capacity from approx. eight percent to nearly five percent, ensuring stronger revenue stability and mitigating financial risks. With this new PPA, the company’s total locked-in generation capacity rises to 30.5 GW, which includes 13.3 GW of operational capacity, 12.4 GW under construction, 150 MW of hydro capacity under acquisition, and 4.6 GW in the development pipeline.
Additionally, JSW Energy boasts 29.4 GWh of confirmed energy storage capacity, supporting its goals of reaching 30 GW of generation and 40 GWh of storage capacity by 2030. The company aims for carbon neutrality by 2050.
