JSW Jharkhand Steel plans to set up a steel plant with a capacity of 10 million tpa at Barenda villages, Sonahatu block, in Ranchi district of Jharkhand. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 35,000 crore.
The project will be spread over 3,800 acre of land in seven villages, implemented in two phases, and also includes a thermal power unit with a capacity of 900 MW.
The company has acquired 1,000 acre of land. The contractor and machinery supplier is yet to be finalised for the project.
Work on the project is likely to commence by June 2017.
