The Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) has announced plans for a major township near Kengeri in south Bengaluru, covering nearly 500 acres in the BM Kaval area.
This development is set to become one of the largest government-driven housing projects in the region, providing a much-needed boost for middle-class and first-time homebuyers, particularly as affordable housing in central Bengaluru continues to shrink. The planned township will benefit from improving connectivity and relatively lower land prices compared to the city centre. KHB will soon appoint an architectural engineering firm for the planning and design of the project, as tendering process is underway.
Bengaluru is expanding beyond its traditional residential areas as government agencies focus on developing planned housing in the city’s outskirts, and with land availability becoming limited, large-scale townships on the city’s periphery are emerging as a solution for future growth.
