The Maharashtra State Cabinet has approved the allocation of about 290 acres of land for coal-to-chemical projects in Linga village, Kalmeshwar taluka.
This land will be used for coal gasification, a process to extract syngas (synthesis gas) and other derivatives like hydrogen. The Adani Group has announced plans to establish a 70,000 crore coal gasification plant at Linga, with work expected to begin this year. Adani Airports Director Jeet Adani, during a visit to Nagpur for the Advantage Vidarbha Khasdar Audyogik Mahotsav, shared that the company aims to launch the project soon. The business entity will have possession rights, but not ownership.
The government is actively promoting coal gasification projects and has allocated Rs 8,500 crore in viability gap funding, with four more such projects planned in Vidarbha.
