HRD, IT, and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh has directed officials to transform the Mangalagiri Gems and Jewellery Park into a nationally recognized model of excellence.
In a recent review meeting, the Minister stressed the importance of expediting construction of the common facility centre (CFC) with support from the Centre. He envisioned the park attracting India’s top 20 jewellery manufacturers to establish both production units and retail outlets. To strengthen the park’s training capabilities, he suggested using the Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IIGJ) in Udupi as a benchmark, and also emphasised the need to incorporate world-class standards into the skill development programmes.
Skill Development Corporation CEO Ganesh Kumar highlighted that the upcoming CFC and centre of excellence (CoE) will offer advanced training to 4,000 individuals each year. The park will be developed with dedicated zones for manufacturing, retail, commercial, residential, and training activities. Also, the creation of a Model Career Centre (MCC) in Mangalagiri will provide job coaching, career guidance, and skill upgrade support.
The park is envisioned not only as a manufacturing and training hub but also as a catalyst for employment generation and economic growth in the region.
