Mideast Integrated Steel, a Mesco Group company, is planning to expand its steelmaking capacity at Kalinganagar, Orissa.
Under the proposed plan, the company will expand its steel capacity upto 3.5 million tpa with an investment of Rs 10,000 crore in the next five years. It has already applied to the government for allotment of iron ore mines.
The company has already commenced upgradation of its pig iron making unit at Kalinganagar into a 1.2 million tpa fully integrated steel project. The capacity expansion from 1.2 million tpa to 5 million tpa is to be taken up with an estimated investment of Rs 8,000 crore.
