The MoEF on 23 April 2010 accorded environmental clearance to the proposed
243-MW Kashang hydropower project at Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh. The project is
being executed by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation (HPPCL).
The state government has already received Rs 297 crore from the Asian
Development Bank (ADB) for the Stage I of 65 MW. The DPR has already been
prepared and submitted to the ADB for sanction of Rs 453 crore to execute the
entire project.
