NHPC has successfully commissioned Unit-I and Unit-III of Uri-II hydro electric project (HEP) at Baramula district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Uri-II HEP involves setting up of the 240 MW (4 x 60 MW) hydel power project, with an investment of Rs 1,800 crore on BOOT basis. After completion of the project, the Government of J&K will receive 12 per cent of the generated electricity free of cost, besides an additional 15 per cent from the Centre's unallocated share, to meet the winter peak demand.
Meanwhile, NHPC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with Chhattisgarh State Power Holding Company and Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative for the development of a 1,320 MW (2 x 660 MW) super critical thermal power project in Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh
