NMDC is all set to commence trial production at its Donimalai pellet plant in Bellary district of Karnataka.
The unit, with 1.2 million tpa capacity, will produce blast furnace-grade pellets, with 65 per cent iron content, in sizes between six and 16 mm. The company has floated a tender seeking expression of interest from prospective buyers. NMDC has asked potential customers to share their month-wise requirements for FY15 and beyond, by 30 May, 2014.
However, commercial production at the project site is likely to begin by December 2014.
The Donimalai plant also involves an iron ore beneficiation unit which entails a capacity of 1.8 million tpa. NMDC is investing Rs 650 crore in the entire project.
