NTPC Hydro (NHL), a wholly owned
subsidiary of NTPC, has decided to revise the capacity of its Rammam hydel power
project Stage III from 3x40 MW to 3x51 MW. The project is coming up across the
river Jaldhaka in Darjeeling district of Uttarakhand.
With CEA's Techno-Economic clearance
and NTPC's board's approval in hand, NHL is all set to float tenders for
appointment of EPC contractor for executing the project. According to company
officials, the tender for EPC contractor is expected to be floated by April
2008.
While land acquisition is going on,
the company is in the process of achieving financial closure shortly. The cost
of the project is estimated at Rs.633.92 crore.
NHL also plans to develop a 3x57 MW
hydel power plant across River Dhauli Ganga. The power plant will come up near
Jashimath in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. It will entail an investment of
Rs.792 crore.
