A new
demineralisation plant was inaugurated in the Gujarat refinery of Indian Oil
Corporation on 15 July 2003. The plant has a capacity of 3 X 250 million cubic
metres.
Demineralised (DM)
water is primarily used for steam generation in captive power plant and is also
used in other process units of the refinery. DM water purity therefore is vital
since it becomes a determining factor for the life of the steam generating
units, steam turbines, heat exchangers and different columns of the refinery.
The commissioning of this plant will enable the refinery to meet the DM water
requirements for several ongoing projects like LAB,
MS Quality, etc.
