L&T, Hindustan Construction Company and Simplex Infrastructure are vying to
construct the airport for the Rs 10,000-crore upcoming aerotropolis project in
West Bengal.
The project is being set up by Bengal Aerotropolis Project Ltd (BAPL), in
which Singapore's Changi Airport holds 26 per cent.
BAPL has short listed these three firms for developing the airport at a cost
of Rs 650 crore. The company intends to finalise the EPC contractor in December
2009.
On the other hand, the company is expecting to receive the second 516-acre
land parcel from West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation by end-December
2009. BAPL has already received 533 acre for the project. It requires around
2,180 acre for implementing the airport city project.
