ArcelorMittal has finalised Kudithini near Bellary in Karnataka to set up its
Rs 30,000-crore, six million tpa steel plant.
The company is likely to require 4,900 acre to set up the plant. The
Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board had already issued a preliminary
notification to acquire the land at Kudithini.
According to sources, the state government has identified 300 ha of iron ore
mines for the company in Bellary district. The state is to provide water for the
steel plant from the Tungabhadra dam in Bellary district and the Alamatti dam in
Bijapur district.
The company is expected to sign an Mou with the state government during on 3
June 2010.
