Gujarat State Electricity Corporation (GSECL) is likely to set up a 1,000 MW
gas based greenfield power project in Mehsana in Gujarat.
The project is estimated to cost Rs 3,500 crore. GSECL will require around
1,000 acre land, which is yet to acquire. Further details of the project are to
be worked out once land acquisition is completed.
This apart, plans are afoot to set up 1,600 MW coal based power project. The
project may come up in Sinor taluka of Vadodara district or Dahej in Bharuch
district.
Also, GSECL has begun process to set up 800 MW coal based power project at
Wanakbori in Gujarat. In April 2010, GSECL had invited tenders from EPC
contractors to construct the plant.
