The Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has set a target to produce 50 million tonne of minerals and achieve a sales revenue of Rs 30,000 crore in the financial year 2025–26. The announcement came during a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan on 10 July, 2025.
To meet this target, the meeting reviewed key strategies such as extending mining lease periods, securing environmental clearances, and operationalising new mines. A notable decision included ramping up bauxite production from the current 3.6 million tonne per year to 6 million tonne during the ongoing financial year.
The proposal to establish a pellet plant under OMC was also discussed. Mecon India has been tasked with preparing the techno-economic feasibility report, and a special project committee has been formed. The project is expected to commence by May 2026.
Chief Minister Majhi also directed OMC to focus on uplifting the livelihoods of people in mining regions, emphasizing forest resource development and job creation. He advised leveraging the convergence of various schemes to maximize impact in mining area development.
