PTC India, on 28 September 2006,
signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 1,020 MW Tala hydro power
project in Bhutan.
The PPA signed will be for a period of
35 years, the initial tariff for the power supply has been fixed at Rs.1.8 per
unit. PTC has already started wheeling power from the project into the country.
As part of the agreement, there will be a review of operational modalities every
three years. Tariffs will be reviewed every five years.
