Reliance Industries (RIL) has set up an R&D centre in Bengaluru for its consumer goods business to develop and test products across food, home and personal care categories.
The new 1,50,000 sq. ft. centre in Whitefield has roped in 50 scientists and 100 support staff already. Once completed, it will be one of the first fully integrated facilities with an R&D centre, a consumer engagement centre for live consumer experiences and feedback.
The company is also piloting nano factories which will manufacture and pack small batches for test launch for sampling and test marketing of products.
The move is part of the company's aims to expand across consumer categories.
