The Rajasthan government plans to establish a film city in Jaipur with private participation. It will roll out a package of incentives under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS), 2019, to the prospective project promoter.
Exemptions and subsidies will be provided by way of investment subsidy, employment generation subsidy, electricity exemption for seven years, land tax exemption for seven years, stamp duty exemption and others. Incentives will be customised for investments of over Rs 100 crore, and for providing direct employment to more than 200 persons.
Further, a film tourism cell would be set up to ensure approvals are made available within 15 days of application, whereby all district-level clearances will be facilitated by this cell.
Moreover, the government has proposed a fee exemption for the shooting of films in monuments, including a 15 percent upfront subsidy on the production cost of any film shot in Rajasthan.
Additionally, the state government plans to open a branch of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Rajasthan.
