The Research and Development Centre for Iron and Steel, the corporate R&D
unit of SAIL, is mulling setting up two pelletisation plants for making use of
the fines generated during the extraction of ore lumps.
MECON was conducting a feasibility study on the viability of the project. The
pelletisation plant is likely to be set up near Gua mines or Bokaro steel plant
in Jharkhand. The plant, once operational, is likely to supply pellets which
could be used in the blast furnace of SAIL's steel plants.
