SEW Nafra Power Corporation has received environment clearance for its 120 MW hydel based power project on Bichom River at West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Earlier, the company was planning to set up the project with 96 MW capacity. The hydel based power plant, estimated to cost Rs 848 crore, will be developed in two phases, each with 60 MW capacity. The ministry has accorded clearance to the project as per the recommendations of the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC), for River Valley and Hydroelectric Projects.
However, the green nod is subject to strict compliance of various general and specific conditions which include completion of catchment area treatment plan in three years, along with development of Bio Diversity Conservation and Management Plan consisting of development of echo-friendly park in an area of 20 ha land in Khellong village in consultation with the Arunachal Pradesh State Forest Department.
