Unit-I, II and V of the Rampur hydroelectric power project located at Duttnagar, in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, has begun commercial operations.
On 13 May 2014, the above units were successfully synchronised and have begun commercial operations.
The project has been undertaken by SJVN and involves setting up of a power plant in six units having a total capacity of 412 MW, each unit entailing a capacity of 68.66 MW.
The project has been set up with an investment of Rs 2,049.98 crore and will generate 1,770 million units of electricity per annum, of which 30 per cent will be supplied to Himachal Pradesh. The balance power will be supplied to the northern grid states - Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, and Delhi.
