Unit-IV (600 MW) of the coal-based Sasan Ultra Mega Power Plant (UMPP), located in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh has commenced power generation.
The project has been undertaken by Sasan Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Power.
The coal-based power project has a total capacity of 3,960 MW (6 x 660 MW). After commencement of power generation from Unit-IV, the operational capacity of the Sasan UMPP has now reached 2,640 MW.
The remaining two units are in an advanced stage of construction and are expected to be commissioned over the next few months.
The company had achieved boiler light up for this unit in April 2014.
