Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru City Development Minister DK Shivakumar inaugurated the second loop of the Hebbal flyover to ease traffic congestion for commuters travelling from Kempegowda International Airport and northern parts of Bengaluru.
He said residents had long complained about severe congestion at the Hebbal junction and that the new loop would ensure smoother traffic flow. The Minister also announced that all local body elections, including those to the Greater Bengaluru Authority corporations, would be held this year, noting that the city has been without an elected council for over five years. Highlighting broader infrastructure plans, Deputy CM Shivakumar said the Bangalore Development Authority is undertaking major projects as it completes 50 years.
Land acquisition is underway for the 120-km Bengaluru Business Corridor (BBC), with farmers to receive developed commercial land and compensation. He added that new tunnel roads, phased flyovers, and an elevated corridor forming a new Outer Ring Road are planned, reflecting the state government’s push to transform the city.
