Skipper, a leading manufacturer of power transmission towers based in Kolkata, plans to expand its production capacity by 60 percent by FY 2027-28, aiming to become the world’s largest player in installed capacity.
The company currently produces 3,75,000 tonne per annum and targets 4,50,000 tonne by FY28. It is focusing on brownfield expansions for this year, with potential greenfield projects starting in FY27, including a new plant in Western India to balance its existing capacity in the East. Skipper also aims to double its exports to 50 percent of its revenue in the next three to four years, as it continues to expand in global markets such as the Middle East, North Africa, and the US.
The company’s products are mainly tied to the growing demand for renewable energy and grid expansion worldwide, with Skipper capitalising on the China Plus One strategy to become a competitive alternative to Chinese manufacturers.
