The coalition government has launched an infrastructure development drive for Vijayawada and Amaravati, targeting major upgrades by 2029.
On 25 November, 2025, MP Kesineni Sivanath and MLA Gadde Rammohan laid the foundation stone for a Rs 93.08-lakh Five Road project in the 8th Division of the East constituency, which includes constructing a 1,000-mtrs. drain near the Metropolitan area. A detailed project report for a Rs 2,000 crore overhaul is underway to revamp stormwater drainage, underground sewage networks and the city’s drinking water system. Officials say the plan aims to eliminate flooding, strengthen water supply in hilly areas and modernise critical civic infrastructure.
“When this plan is implemented, not a drop of rainwater will stagnate on the roads,” MP Sivanath said. Rammohan noted that simultaneous efforts are being made to renovate all major roads, drains and service lines. Under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s guidance, the city is expected to become cleaner, more efficient and future-ready, setting a model for urban transformation in the coming years.
