B2B express logistics company TCI Express' (TCIEXPRESS) 'GIGA' sorting centre in Gurugram has been certified with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Rating.
The 'Gold' rating under the LEEDv4 BD+C warehouses and distribution centres rating system has been provided by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) for excelling in key parameters. The recognition makes TCIEXPRESS the first B2B express logistics company in India as well as South Asia to receive this certification for a sorting centre.
Spanning across two lakh (2,00,000) sq. ft., the sorting centre has been constructed by incorporating green building principles which meet international standards. The facility leverages solar power as a primary source of energy, as a step towards green energy utilisation and carbon neutrality.
The facility scored in areas such as rainwater management and renewable energy production, innovation and the presence of LEED-accredited professionals, reduced parking footprint, construction and demolition waste management plan, indoor and outdoor water use reduction, indoor air quality management plan, carbon offsets and optimised energy performance.
